The industry and commerce authorities in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province took four incentives to enhance IPR protection and enforcement and to further conduct the campaign against IPR violation and counterfeiting goods.
First, strengthen publicity and education to create strong atmosphere for IP protection. Through special columns in mass media, TV, broadcasting, meeting and training, door-to-door publicity, banners, slogans, publicity materials, typical case exposure, the officials will widely publicize National IP Strategy Outline, popularize the protection of the exclusive rights of registered trademarks, introduce the progress and achievements of the Campaign to raise the community’s awareness of IP protection, foster strong atmosphere to respect and protect IP and create a sound working environment for the special campaign against IP violation and counterfeits.
Second, offer more report and complaint ways for the public and enhance social supervision. Provide more channels for the public to report case clues related to IPR violations and the distribution of counterfeits and substandard commodities. And timely receive and handle the complaints and reports.
Third, set up coordinated mechanism to jointly fight against counterfeiting. All the relevant authorities such as public security departments, people’s courts, procuratorate, quality inspection, commerce, broadcasting, radio, culture and tourism should join the Campaign.
Fourth, focus on major industries and places to curb illegal actions. During the Campaign, the main rectification targets are the entities that use registered trademarks and trademark licenses, exclusive shops, franchised stores, chain stores, agencies, markets, plazas, supermarkets, medicine shops, hi-tech industries and agriculture. The key products to be inspected are food, drugs, agricultural materials, cosmetic, garments, boxes and bags, cell-phones, home appliances, electric software, building materials and decoration products, books and car fittings. The campaign will continue to curb unfair competition actions including the infringement of well-known trademarks, famous trademarks, geographical indication trademarks, the exclusive rights of foreign related registered trademarks and brand imitating actions.
