The Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has registered 1,973 patents, including 1,694 foreign patents, in the first 10 months of this year.
During the period, MyIPO received 5,373 applications for patent registration, including 4,439 from foreign parties, according to the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry's portal, www.kpdnkk.gov.my.
It said that the highest number of patents registered was in the field of chemistry and metal at 552 followed by human needs (335), and operational implementation and transport (328).
According to the website, MyIPO received 1,607 applications for industral design, including 983 from foreign parties.
MyIPO has also registered 18,982 trademarks out of 23, 552 applications received during the period.
