Hunan holds training on IPR system

To help businesses, particularly innovation-oriented ones to raise their awareness to the importance of intellectual property rights (IPRs), actively learn from home and overseas enterprises, make scientific enterprise IPR strategy, and earnestly elevate their ability on IPR creation, utilization, protection and management, the Science and Technology Department of Hunan Province invited Patrick J. Coyne, the partner of Washington D.C. Headquarter of the Finnegan, one of the largest IP law firms in the world and Layer Yang Zhenyu to give lectures on IPR system to innovation-based businesses. The principals from Changsha Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Zhuzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Xiangtan Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and Yiyang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Management Committee of the Hi-tech Zone and innovation-oriented enterprises participated the training.

The lawyer team from American Finnegan IP Law Firm mainly lectured on PCT applications, how to apply for effective patents, patent portfolio, patents’ free operation and intellectual property due diligence.

At the training class, the principal from Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Department elaborated on the achievements made in IPR field and the cooperation and exchange with foreign partners. Lawyer Patrick J. Coyne and Lawyer Yang Zhenyu introduced Finnegan’s specialties and business conducted in China. The two sides also discussed how to push Finnegan and Hunan-based export-oriented enterprises to exchange ideas, do education training as well as make IPR general publicity. They agreed to launch substantial cooperation on the exchange of IPR information, education and training, mutual visiting and the organization of hi-level IPR seminars.

To communicate and cooperate with Finnegan IP Law Firm will play a positive role in richening the ways of Hunan Province in IPR cooperation with overseas partners, depending the research of IPR development trends overseas and guiding enterprises and public institutions to effectively involve in international competition through using IPR system.
