China will incorporate institutional efforts in fighting against IPR infringement and counterfeiting into its government performance evaluation system as well as the social security administration assessment framework as a new measurement in a bid to reinforce administrative supervision and accountability, announced by Jiang Zengwei, Director General of the National Leading Office of the Special Campaign on Cracking down upon IPR infringement and Manufacture and Distribution of Counterfeiting Commodities and Vice Minister of Commerce, at a press conference on December 13.
"Government chiefs and administrative departments that fail to perform their duties and lead to region-wide or organized violations of IPR shall be penalized," said Jiang. "In this respect, China is ahead of other countries, which seldom impose such requirements on local authorities."
It is known that China will carry out a series of measures to maintain a heavy blow against IPR infringement and counterfeiting through a joint working mechanism that combines the central and local authorities together.
