Huai'an conducted patent enforcement inspection activities

2011/12/12

Recently, five excellent patent enforcement officials of Huai'an Municipal Intellectual Property Office were selected to form an inspection team to review patent enforcement process in 25 retail enterprises and 15 production enterprises in the city.

About one thousand kinds of commodities in three categories including household appliances, daily necessities, and knitting supplies of those 25 retail entities such as Suning and Lotte Mart supermarket were closely examined. Among them, 198 kinds of commodities are patented products and the inspection team is checking if these patents are well protected or not.

The inspection team also trained management staff of those entities on intellectual property protection, aiming to enhance their management capacities of patented commodities.

The team focused on the process of IP protection as they checked as many as 134 kinds of patented products of those 15 production enterprises, finding that about one fifth patented products of these entities were suspected of being copied, but only a few of them filed lawsuits against violations due to high court fees.
The inspection team also strived to encourage them to use laws and regulations as weapons to protect their indigenous innovations so as to increase their market competitiveness. [Chinese version is available on news.hynews.net]
