Gan Shaoning, deputy commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office, paid a visit to Zhongshan, a city of Guangdong province, on December 5 to review the process of the city's intellectual property protection and patent applications.
China's first intellectual property protection center for industries was established in the city, pledging to step up the communication between patent agencies and enterprises.
Reportedly, in the first ten months this year, Zhongshan received 9,845 patent applications, up 39.45%, in which, invention applications were 1,019, up 47.68% and accounting for 10.35%. In addition, 8,325 patent applications were granted, up 13.95%,and the issued invention patents reached 287, jumping by 145.30%.
During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, patent applications and grants accumulated to 38,294 and 23,787, increasing by 2.2 times and 1.8 times over the last five-year plan period respectively. Among them, invention patent applications and grants amounted to 2,670 and 355, soaring by 6.9 times and 5.3 times over the last five-year plan period.
It is worth mentioning that in 2010, patent applications in Zhongshan have broken ten thousand for the first time with 12,032 filings, up 38.31%. Among them, invention applications reached 985, growing by 52.71%.
Zhongshan ranked the fifth across the province in the amount of patent applications and invention patent applications.
