China and US Concluded 22nd Session of the Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade

Chengdu—The 22nd Session of the Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) was concluded in Chengdu yesterday. The US Commerce Minister John Bryson, US Trade Representative Ron Kirk and Vice Premier of China Mr. Wang Qishan co-hosted the conference. The US Agriculture Minister Tom Vilsack also attended the conference.
A series of new advances in some key issues in the trade relationship between China and the US were announced by Minister Bryson, Ambassador Kirk and Minister Vilsack. But at the same time, they also emphasized that there is still a lot to do to promote the opening of the Chinese market to the US export and investment. The progress made in the conference, including removing some important trade barriers concerning electric vehicles, strengthening the measures of abolishing discriminatory independent innovation policies and implementing IP laws more strictly in China, will help increase the American export and employment opportunities.
In the conference, China agreed on making significant system changes on IP protection. At the same time, China also announced an central government order that provincial and local governments should cancel all the policies which do not conform to the promise of separating the Chinese innovative policies from government procurement made by President Hu Jintao before December 1st, 2011.
