The Ministry of Industry and Information recently started selecting major technological inventions in information industry. The selection is open to any technology owning indigenous intellectual property and having great economic and social potentials.　　

To promote the advancement of information technology and create a sound environment for innovation and creation, the Ministry of Industry and Information has organized the selection activity since 2001. According to the Selection Notice, the technological project qualified for appraisal should reach an international advanced level and enter the industrialization phase or have a certain volume of sales. In addition, a technology should own indigenous intellectual property, including invention patent, computer software copyright registration or the exclusive right registration of layout-design of integrated circuits without dispute of ownership. Meanwhile, the unit sending application should be the IPR holder of the project.

The selection activity has been successively held for ten times. 66 projects were selected out from over 10,000 entries.
