2011/09/16

In the first half of 2011, the number of patent applications and grants in Chongqing is 10,720 and 7,479, up 43.6% and 59.2% respectively. The city ranks 2nd over 12 western China’s provinces and municipalities in terms of growing speed.

Industrial and mining establishments have filed 4,579 applications and obtained 3,777 grants, accounting for 42.7% and 50.5% of the total amount.

Among the city’s 216 key enterprises, 84 have obtained 1,990 grants, accounting for over half of that of industrial and mining businesses.

In addition, applications submitted by universities and research institutions are of high quality and most of them have been approved.

However, emerging industries don’t play well in this regard during the period. they have owned 453 grants, accounting for only 6.1% of the total amount.

The number of grants of bio-pharmaceutical, PV, communication equipment and rail transportation industries is 55, 6, 42 and 28 respectively, accounting for 1.98%, 0.7%, 0.56% and 1.50% of the total amount across the country and high-performance integrated circuit industry obtained no patent application, which indicate that emerging industries still have much room to improve.
