In the first half of 2011, invention patent applications and grants in Dalian reached 2,427 and 521, up 102.1% and 67% respectively, according to statistics released by the State Intellectual Property Office.
In a bid to optimize patent structure and increase patent quality, the city has conscientiously performed its duty in implementing IPR strategies and conducting activities to promote indigenous innovation.
Meanwhile, a batch of IPR pilot enterprises become more competitive in international market.
In addition, the city has focused on major programs on IPR transformation, providing more funds and resources to creative industrial fields, including optoelectronics, digital machines, marine engineering and biopharmaceuticals.
Furthermore, the city has also combined forces of public institutions and private sectors to stimulate innovative enthusiasm.
