Seminar on Mainland’s 12th Five-Year Plan and Taiwan’s Business Opportunities, co-sponsored by the Association of Economy and Trade Across Taiwan Straits (AETATS) and Taipai World Trade Center, was held in Taipai on July 19. Vice Commerce Minister Jiang Yaoping, addressed the Seminar.

Jiang Yaoping said that with the signing and implementation of ECFA has promoted further the mutual beneficial economic development across the Straits, created greater opportunities for cross-strait economic exchanges and cooperation. the early harvest program is in effect for half a year, and remarkable results has been achieved. According to goods trade statistics by the Mainland, in the first five months of 2011, Mainland’s imports from Taiwan under ECFA totaled US$ 1.561 billion, enjoyed a customs duty cut by 281 million yuan, while Taiwan’s imports from Mainland amounted to US$ 325 million, enjoyed a customs duty cut of 45 million yuan. In service trade, more than 50 non-financial institutes and 7 financial institutes in Taiwan has entered the mainland market by the end of June 2011 under Early Harvest Program of ECFA, and 10 Mainland enterprises has registered in Taiwan by the end of March 2011.
