Guizhou: Pirated music website closed

The provincial government's cultural department recently closed a music portal due to piracy.

The website mtvtop.net offered about 710,000 songs, at least 50,000 of them unauthorized, for download. The case has now been handed over to local police.

Enforcement officials across the southwestern province also conducted some 39,200 patrols of local markets from late last year to May 20 and seized nearly 170,000 illegal DVDs and CDs.
