Xuzhou, a city in Jiangsu Province, has taken on a trend of rapid development in its trademark cause. As of June 20, various registered trademarks have broken 10,000 for the first time and reached 10,895, including 7 national well-known trademarks, 88 provincial famous trademarks and 227 municipal notable trademarks.
By organizing staff to go to 100 enterprises, Xuzhou industrial and commercial departments helped them solve 10 trademark problems. 39 large-scaled enterprises including Saimo, Lanfeng and XCC were encouraged to file applications for Jiangsu famous trademarks and got registered in the same year as applications filed; three time-honored trademark enterprises, "两来风"(lianglaifeng), "老同昌"(laotongchang) and "马市街"(mashijie), were also supported to file applications for Jiangsu famous trademarks. 10 key enterprises were listed as the units to create Chinese well-known trademarks; related departments and trade associations, under the guidance of Xuzhou industrial and commercial department, systemized the local intangible cultural heritage and other resources including time-honoured brands and special local snacks.
As the industrial and commercial departments at all levels attached high importance to the cultivation of characterized industries or products, a series of famous agricultural brands with regional characteristics have come to being, including Fengxian County's pollution-free fruits and vegetables and Feixian County's food processing. As for old brands with high reputation, the government suggested them exert brand advantages to drive the local economic growth and increase market share. When agricultural products are granted with famous trademarks, the price will reach a delightful new level. For example, the price of "Dashahe" Fushi apple is 0.5 yuan higher per jin than that of other Fushi apple. The revenue of "Dashahe" agricultural products increase 300 yuan to 600 yuan per mu.
The three-level trademark supervision network has been established, which will contribute to the protection on famous trademarks and well-known trademarks as well as the administration over trademark printing enterprises. All efforts have effectively safeguarded the legal rights of trademark holders and consumers.
