An intellectual property rights (IPR) seminar for software industry was held in Pudong Software Park in
Shanghai to mark the twenty-year anniversary of the implementation of China's Copyright Law and the promulgation of the Regulations for the Protection of Computer Software.
The seminar, hosted by Shanghai Copyright Administration and jointly organized by Shanghai Software Association and the Intellectual Property Research Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was attended by more than one hundred representatives from courts, law firms, certifying bodies, universities, industrial associations, industrial parks and software enterprises, who discussed deeply on concerned subjects, such as IPR administration in software companies, identification of software infringement and strategies & techniques in handling software disputes.
Xu Chaoying, inspector of the
National Copyright Administration, delivered a keynote speech on copyright protection of computer software and communicated with representatives from software enterprises. Cai Jiwan, deputy director of the municipal copyright administration, also addressed the meeting. He pointed out that Shanghai's software industry has made breakthroughs in recent years. As an important mainstay of the city's economy, software industry has been serving as an engine that drives copyright development. To keep its current impetus, software industry in Shanghai shall accelerate the industrial transformation and step up the crackdown on piracy, protecting the legal rights of innovators.
