With a speech themed "Review and Outlook of the National Intellectual Property Strategy" delivered on May 18 by Wang Jingchuan,former commissioner of China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), a series of activities highlighted by lectures on IP strategy, which were initiated and organized by the Office of the Inter-Ministry Joint Meeting on the Implementation Work of the National IP Strategy, were officially launched in Beijing. The event was attended by members of the Joint Meeting, such as the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, as well as SIPO and its research and service institutes, together with representatives from enterprises.
The lecture of Mr. Wang could be divided into two parts: one was a review of the National Intellectual Property Strategy where he illustrated the historical background of the Strategy's formulation and implementation with a focus on its role in the transformation of economic growth mode, the enhancement of indigenous innovation and the cultivation of national core competitiveness; the other was an outlook of the Strategy from five perspectives: to promote IPR creation by improving laws & regulations, optimizing policy guidance and cultivating a better social and market environment; to speed up the commercialization of intellectual properties; to enhance IP protection, fiercely combat IP-related crimes, safeguard a fair-play market order and protect people's legal rights; to improve IP administration and to value innovation, IP evaluation and IP-related pre-warning systems; to promote IP-related services, accelerate the industrialization of indigenous intellectual properties and to improve China's core competitiveness.
The lectures on IP strategy, organized to facilitate the implementation of the Outline of the National Intellectual Property Strategy, sum up useful experience and discuss the challenges and hot topics in IP industry, have actually provided an open platform for IPR-related communication and consultation. Later, chiefs of governmental departments, directors of the National IPR Expert Consulting Committee, scholars and elites with great reputation will be invited to deliver speeches in the following lectures, sharing their experience in the implementation of the Strategy.
