SIPO and JPO will jointly carry out a PPH pre-pilot program

Commissioner of China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu met with his counterpart in Japan Patent Office (JPO) Mr. Yoshiyuki Iwai on May 4. The two parties exchanged ideas on launching a patent prosecution highway (PPH) pilot program between the two agencies.

Both commissioners agreed to conduct a pre-pilot program in recognition of the effectiveness and significance of PPH.

The pre-pilot program, only open to a limited number of applications, aims to inspect the internal procedures of the Sino-Japan PPH pilot project.

Applicants can file PPH applications after the two agencies sign an agreement on PPH pilot program and verify their respective internal procedures.
