2011/05/06

It was reported from the General Administration of Quality Supervision,Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) that through joint efforts and continued cooperation China and EU have made new progress in the field of mutual protection on the origin of geographical indications over the past four years. The two sides have totally granted mutual protection and authentication for ten products.

As the responsible official of AQSIQ introduced, ten EU well-known products under the pilot program of China-EU geographical indications protection, including Pruneau d'Agen and Comté, would soon get registered in AQSIQ and formally became the GI protected products in China. Meanwhile, ten different Chinese products including the Dragon well tea and Shaanxi apples would soon get registered in EU. The current cooperation between the two sides laid a good foundation for considering signing the China-EU Bilateral Agreement on Geographical Indications.
