Tibet conducted publicity activities to mark the World Intellectual Property Day

Recently, the Intellectual Property Office of Tibet Autonomous Region conducted a series of intellectual property publicity activities in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet, participated by the leading enterprises in the autonomous region and member units of the leading group of IPR protection.

11 member units including administrations for IP, industry and commerce, press publications and culture as well as Lhasa Customs, displayed publicity boards themed "IPR boosting economic development mode transformation" and distributed IP-related leaflets to passersby; some leading enterprises presented their patented products in the event.

The events aimed to enhance the dissemination of IPR protection, improve legislation mechanisms, reinforce law enforcement, increase enterprises' consciousness on combating IPR violations, stimulate public creation enthusiasm and promote economic development, according to Jiang Nan, vice-director of the Intellectual Property Office of Tibet Autonomous Region.

It was learnt that patent applications and grants in the autonomous region reached 1,247 and 835 respectively in 2010 and 21 IP-related disputes were mediated.
