Recently, the first IPR tribunal in Huzhou city, Zhejiang province was officially set up in the People’s Court of Deqing county.
Zhao Zhen, the President of the People’s County of Deqing County, expressed that he felt “it is really big responsibility” as Deqing Court was the first grassroot one that obtained general IPR jurisdiction in Huzhou city. Deqing Court will insist on the principle of equal protection, balanced benefits and overall interest service to timely and effectively curb IPR infringing activities, intensify IPR protection and exert the role of judicial organs in solving IPR disputes. The IPR tribunal will pay more attention to the mediation over IPR civil cases and study multi-angle dispute settlement mechanism to solve IPR disputes.
Last October, the Supreme People’s Court authorized 5 grassroot courts in Zhejiang province to hear IPR cases.
The IPR Tribunal newly set in Deqing Court will hear the first instance of general IPR cases happening in its jurisdiction with the litigation subject value no more than 5 million yuan (except cases concerning patents, new varieties of plants, integrated circuit layout design, the protection of famous trademarks and monopoly.
