During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, patent applications in
Sichuan reached 129.9 thousand, which were 3.6 times as many as those in the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, with an annual increase of 30.9%; patent grants were 82.8 thousand, which were 4.2 times that of the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, increasing by 47.8% annually; furthermore, the total number of intellectual property registrations for patent, trademarks, copyrights and new plant varieties ranked the first in central and western China, according to information from a directors’ meeting for intellectual property offices of Sichuan convened in Chengdu on April 8. Li Chengyun, deputy governor of Sichuan Province, attended and addressed the meeting.
In the last five years, Sichuan achieved great results in IP transformation and it attributed the success to the effective implementation of IPR strategies in the province and the rational utilization of the special funds for IPR promotion. More than 14 thousand pieces of patented technology were transformed into actual products, which was 2.13 times that of the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, and the total output production value and tax generated by the IP transformation were about 231.6 billion yuan and 30.4 billion yuan respectively, 2.41 times and 2.12 times the figures of the Tenth Five-Year Plan period separately.
During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, Sichuan cultivated 50 national IP pilot enterprises, 384 provincial IP pilot enterprises and 298 municipal IP pilot enterprises. Patent applications submitted by enterprises in the province reached 41.9 thousand, which were 4.98 times as many as those in the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, with an annual growth rate of 46.41%.
During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, Sichuan will strive to promote IP implementation and transformation and establish independent innovation mechanisms to achieve more success.
