Hainan: Sanya uncovered 35 trademark infringement cases

Sanya has investigated 35 cases involving 172.6 thousand yuan on infringing the exclusive right to use a registered trademark in a special crackdown on combating intellectual property violations and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities, according to information released by the Administration for Industry and Commerce of Sanya.

Since November 2010, the Administration for Industry and Commerce of Sanya has focused on industries for trademark printing, high technology and agriculture to fight against violations of famous trademarks, geographical indications and the exclusive rights of foreign registered trademarks of commodities varying from car accessories, cargos to be exported, cell phones, medicines to agricultural materials, apparel, bags and home appliances.

In the last five month, the Administration has imposed a fine of 182.6 thousand yuan and confiscated 1,329 articles. 24 cases involving 110.9 thousand yuan were related to foreign trademark violations, in which, 20 were resolved and 116.7 thousand yuan were fined; while 65.9 thousand yuan were fined in another 11 cases on trademark infringements.

The special crackdown aimed to uncover serious cases on infringing the exclusive rights of registered trademarks, exposed a batch of illegal enterprises and raised the consciousness of enterprises on the protection of exclusive right to use a registered trademark.
