Guangdong: Chinese famous trademarks in Foshan to reach 75 during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period

“Chinese famous trademarks” in Foshan are projected to reach 75 during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, according to information from the meeting convened by the leading group of national trademark implementation departments of Foshan in Guangdong on March 31. Wang Ling, deputy mayor of Foshan, attended and addressed the meeting.

Wang encouraged enterprises in the city to lay emphasis on trademark registrations, brand protection, technology innovations, product quality and business management.

In 2010, Foshan achieved dramatic growth in trademarks, for it had another 16,275 valid trademarks, 12 Chinese famous trademarks, 3 certification and collective marks and 90 Guangdong provincial famous trademarks, according to Li Xuechang, director of the administration for industry and commerce of Foshan.

Up to now, Foshan has possessed 74,705 registered trademarks, 46 Chinese famous trademarks, 324 Guangdong provincial famous trademarks, 10 collective and certification marks; and these trademarks have covered a number of industries, such as pottery and porcelain, home appliances, aluminum shaped materials, food, medicines and furniture.

Foshan plans to focus on trademarks implementation in enterprises and guide small and medium-sized enterprises to promote trademark registrations by encouraging over 20 enterprises to apply for Chinese famous trademarks and motivating more than 50 enterprises to apply for Guangdong provincial famous trademarks.
