According to information released on March 14 by Tianjin municipal public security organs at a press conference, a special campaign conducted by the public security organs has yielded satisfying results. Until now, the public security organs have resolved more than 120 cases on intellectual property infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities, arrested and examined over 170 suspects, destroyed 101 sites, disrupted over 60 criminal gangs and seized 4 escaped criminals.

In the special campaign, Tianjin public security organs at all levels have combated fake publications, printing, disks, computer software, registered trademarks and top brands; they have also fought against manufacture and sales of substandard drugs, food, agricultural materials, petty commodities and building materials; furthermore, the organs have dealt with illegal online distribution of video products and software, regional and cross-border crimes related to commercial bribery. Sites manufacturing shoddy commodities have been shut down and criminal gangs selling fake products have been disrupted. It was also worth mentioning that the organs managed to raise public consciousness on intellectual property protection by convening symposia.
