2011/03/24
According to information released by the press and publication bureau of Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, the autonomous region will promote authorized software in 100 small and medium sized enterprises and investigate the use of licensed software in governmental departments in 2011.
Yang Hongyan, director of the press and publication bureau of Inner Mongolia, said that the region planned to focus on state-owned, foreign-invested and large-scale private enterprises to supervise the use of legal software. Since 2006, over 300 large and medium sized and enterprises have started promoting the use of authorized software. In 2011, the focus will be on small and medium-sized enterprises.
Yang recognized that the difficulties in promoting authorized software were cost pressure and a lack of copyright consciousness.
Yang required to blacklist and expose enterprises with software copyright problems and to enhance the supervision. Cases on serious copyright infringement needed to be investigated and dealt with severely.
In 2010, vast majority of software used by 68 enterprises and 10 economic and technological development zones in Inner Mongolia have been authorized. Relevant departments also conducted a special campaign on combating IP infringement and piracy on audiovisual products and online piracy. 68539 pieces of pirated software were confiscated in the autonomous region in 2010.
