According to information released by Sichuan Provincial Intellectual Property Bureau, in 2011, Chengdu, Deyang, Mianyang, Panzhihua and Yibin will be built as pilot demonstration cities for intellectual property (IP) protection and serve as models for other cities in the province.

The action of building these 5 national pilot demonstration cities for IP protection will help to strengthen dissemination and training of intellectual property rights (IPR), to reinforce law enforcement and to enhance the service of patent information sharing. It will also improve investment environment, promote the cities’ images and secure key IPR achievements in independent innovation.

Besides the above mentioned 5 cities, the strategy on the construction of national IPR pilot demonstration towns and national pilot towns on the protection of traditional knowledge will cover ten counties in Shuangliu, Chongzhou, Mianzhu and etc.

In 2011, IPR work programs in Sichuan will focus on the transfer of economic development mode and will provide helpful IPR service to key enterprises, universities, research and development institutions and significant industrial parks.
