Qinghai investigated 88 cases on manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities

A special campaign on cracking down upon intellectual property infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities, launched by the provincial Department of Commerce, the Department of Public Security, and the Industrial & Commercial Administration Bureau in Qinghai, has achieved great results. According to statistics, in the special campaign, Qinghai examined  9,051 business entities, inspected wholesale and retail markets for 156 times, looked into more than 150 key areas, destroyed 9 sites for manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities, investigated 58 cases with total value of 187,900 yuan.

In all these cases, there were 8 cases on trademark infringement with total value of 156,000 yuan; 6 cases on top brand infringement with 106,000 yuan involved; 11 cases on top brand packing infringement with total value of 71,300 yuan. In order to crack down upon intellectual property infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities which were going to be exported to Africa, Provincial Department of Commerce worked together with Provincial Industrial & Commercial Administration Bureau, Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision and Xining Customs and investigated 19 enterprises who had export business with African countries, including Qinghai Tibetan Sheep Carpets Group. In 2010, export value to Africa of these 19 enterprises was up to 11.3 million US dollars, and exported commodities varied from mining products to carpets, solar photovoltaic products, handicrafts, machinery and etc. Until now, no intellectual property infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeit and shoddy commodities have been found in these export products.
