In the first eleven months, Wenzhou City filed 10,505 pieces of patent applications, up 30% on year-on-year basis. Of these applications, filings for invention patents were 1,315 items, those for utility model patents were 5,268 pieces and applications for design patents were 3,922 pieces, increasing by 32%, 34% and 18%, respectively. Moreover, the patent grants have reached 9,668 pieces, rising by 61%.

According to Zhu Yongmin with IPR Section of Wenzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the augmentation of patent applications reflects the strong innovative ability of enterprises as well as the increased awareness of IPR protection.

However, most enterprises in Wenzhou are small and medium-sized and lack of indigenous innovation ability. So joining hands with other enterprises, universities and scientific institutions becomes a trend to improve innovation capability.

It is informed that Wenzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau takes the lead in building an IPR service park to help enterprises with talents and finance difficulty, aiming to built this park into a center with six functions, i.e. IPR service center, pledge loan center, exhibition and trade center, information center, assistance center and training center.
