SIPO Commissioner attends Asian IPR Protection and Cooperation Forum

On December 3, Commissioner of State Intellectual Property Office Tian Lipu together with his party attended and delivered the Forum on IPR Protection and Cooperation in Asia in Nara, Japan. The forum aimed to exchange measures of IPR offices in East Asia and Southeast Asia on protecting industrial property rights, summarize the experience concerning international cooperative projects and promote cooperation among IP offices of countries in Asia.

Tian Lipu pointed out in his speech that, Chinese uphold innovation and teem with invention and creation. IPR system has made tremendous progress since its building thirty years ago in China. In 21 century, IPRs especially became the important support for China’s S&T improvement, cultural prosperity and economic growth. Tian noted that China would utilize the cooperative mechanism among China, Japan and Korea and China-ASEAN Cooperation Mechanism to enhance cooperation among IPR offices.

Other officials from IPR offices also expressed that fully using IPR system, raising innovation ability and enhancing IPR cooperation among Asian countries is an effective entry point to achieve co-prosperity. After the forum, the participants also discussed IPR talent trainings.

The forum was convened by Japan Patent Office and high officials from IPR competent authorities of China, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia participated in the forum and shared their IPR protection measures and their cooperation experience with other Asian countries.
