China's 3 projects in "urgent need for ICH protection"

Approved by the fifth meeting of intergovernmental committee on protecting intangible cultural heritage under UNESCO held in Nairobi on November 15, three projects declared by China, "China's manufacturing prowess of watertight bulkhead ship", "China’s movable type printing" and "Mashripi" were included in the "Intangible Cultural Heritage in Urgent Need of Protection 2010".
Director of Intangible Cultural Heritage Department under Ministry of Culture Ma Wenhui said the Chinese government will continue to perform its commitment to the international community in the field of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, learn from international advanced experiences, fully carry out the protection measures for ICH and make contribution to the maintenance of world cultural diversity.
The fifth meeting of intergovernmental committee on protecting intangible cultural heritage under UNESCO was opened in Nairobi on November 15. During the five-day meeting, participants will discuss and approve the list for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Urgent Need of Protection 2010, and modify the inclusion criteria for ICH projects.
