On November 18, the General Office of Qingdao Municipal People’s Government of Shangdong noticed that from November 18, 2010 to March 31, 2011, Qingdao will conduct special campaign on combating against IPR infringement and manufacture and sales of counterfeiting and shoddy commodities.

It is learnt that the special action will concentrate on protecting copyrights, trademarks, patents and new plant variety rights, make central the key fields like hi-tech industry, news and publications, culture and entertainment and agriculture, lock onto these important commodities such as home appliances, software, bulk export commodities, books, CDs, food, medicine and seeds to launch special rectification, with the aim of closing a batch of serious cases involving infringement, counterfeiting and piracy, neaten market economy order, continue to raise IPR protection level, promote IPR creation, use and management and try to develop into a leading IPR model city in the nation.

It is introduced that the special campaign targets to hold back scaled infringement in major fields and key section, IPR-related cases involving the infringement of patents, trademarks, copyrights and new plant variety should be closed 100%, the IPR infringement goods in import and export would be inspected 100%, administrative protection and judicial protection should be closely linked and all the cases that meet the standards of criminal prosecution for filing would be transferred to public security entities, and all of the party and government organs would use genuine office software.

During the special campaign, the four hotlines (12330 for IPR safeguarding, 12315 for consumers’ reporting and complaints, 12318 for infringement and piracy and 12365 for complaints about product quality) will be put into use.
