BEIJING, Nov. 10 -- China's Ministry of Culture said Wednesday it expected an ongoing nationwide crackdown on counterfeiting to effectively halt the theft of intellectual property rights (IPRs) and promote public awareness in IPR protection.
The ministry said in a statement that the ongoing campaign on the crackdown of counterfeiting, which was launched in October and scheduled to end in March, will focus on the elimination of IPR violations in karaoke bars, websites, online-games, Internet cafes, animation and artistic products.
The campaign also involves promoting the installation of genuine software and blocking the market entry of cultural products that contain obscene contents and violence.
Law enforcement will be strengthened to wipe out piracy and purify the market, the statement said.
