LG Busted in Russia for Software Piracy

On September 2, Russian police officers announced that authorities had opened a criminal inquiry on the use of pirated software against the Russian branch of the Korean LG Electronics. The officers found in the investigation that around 60 of LG’s employees were allegedly found to be using pirated commercial software they had not paid for. Sixty computers were also confiscated. The police estimated the losses to software vendors at USD 65,000.
