Folk Dance Named to Cultural Heritage List

Anhui province officials recently announced the third set of 71 intangible cultural heritage (ICH) offerings, including 66 ICH directories and five expansion lists.

A folk dance called "Shooting Star Chasing the Moon" is one of them.

The "Shooting-Star Chasing the Moon" is a distinctive folk dance performed in Jinli town, Mingguang, in Chuzhou city of Anhui province.

Each year it is introduced along with special lanterns during the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. It features dancers waving balls shaped like shooting stars.
