西部粮仓”(Western Barn), has a wide range of high quality agricultural products. On the news briefing for the promotion of Ningxia rice held on July 13 in Beijing, the Ministry of Agriculture granted the
geographical indication certification to Ningxia rice, which became the first geographical indication named after a province. 12 companies, including the Ningxia XinTang Rice Industry and Ningxia Sai Wai Xiang Co. Ltd., were authorized for the first time to process rice with the use of the Ningxia rice geographical indication.
It’s reported that the general Ningxia rice acreage is 1200,000 mu, and the high-yield demonstration zones average more than 700 kilograms per mu, and the highest yield is more than 900 kilograms. The main high quality rice acreage accounts for 56% of the total rice acreage and the level of mechanization reached 97%, which takes a leading role nationwide.
