Google China Launched New Service Architecture: Two-domain Names Provide Service

2010/08/12

On July 20, Google China published the new service architecture through its official blog: provide service to China users through both Google.cn and Google.com.hk. In the blog, Google China said users can enjoy the service of shopping, music, and translating through Google.cn. On the Google.com.hk website, most of its products, such as Google search, news and the new edition of Google Q & A are going to meet the public in a few days.

In the blog Google China said some products and services enjoyed great success while others failed. For example, the website ranking page and lifestyle site were not welcomed by Chinese users, so Google decided to shut them down. What’s more, according to an earlier statement, Google was in the process of winding down its technical support for two services for its local partner, Tianya.cn. In the future, Google and Tianya.cn will operate different edition of Q & A products respectively.

Google Maps is still available through ditu.google.cn. The responsible department issued some new service policies and products aimed at Google Maps, and Google is still working on it. At this point there is no new information about Google maps.
