According to the latest statistics issued by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), it has accepted 467,000 patent applications in the first half of 2010, representing an increase of 9.6%. The domestic applications reached 411,000, accounting for 88% of the total; foreign applications were 56,000, accounting for 12%; and the applications of invention, utility model and design accounted for 164,000, 165,000 and 138,000, respectively.
Among the domestic applications, service applications accounted for 239,000, representing an increase of 17.7% and making up of 58.2% of the total domestic number. Non-service applications accounted for 171,700, representing a reduction of 0.2% and making up 41.8% of the total domestic number.
Among the invention applications, the domestic applications account for 115,000, representing an increase of 10.6% and making up 70.1% of the total invention applications; the foreign applications accounted for 49,000, representing an increase of 11.4% and making up 29.9% of the total invention applications.
359,000 patents were granted in the fist half of 2010, among which inventions accounted for 56,000, utility models represented 139,000 and designs totaled 164,000.
As of the end of June, 2010, SIPO has accepted 6,285,000 patent applications and granted 3,442,000 pieces.
