Xinjiang: Urumchi Association for Science in Hi-tech Zone set up

On June 22, the Association for Science in National Hi-tech Zone in Urumchi was set up and the first representative conference was held.

Currently, Urumchi Hi-tech Zone has 21 intellectual property (IP) units at national, district and city level with 435 pieces of authorized patents. Over 70% hi-tech enterprises in Urumchi are in the hi-tech zone. In 2009, the hi-tech zone was approved as the first "National Science and Technology Innovation Base" by Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology.
