Sino-French workshop on anti-infringement held at SAIC

On June 3, State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), French Customs and French National Institute of Industrial Property held the Sino-French workshop on anti-infringement at SAIC. This is the first workshop by SAIC and foreign related organs on combating infringement and also a fine start for the cooperation between SAIC and French National Anti-Counterfeit Committee at a broader and higher level.

On July 7, 2009, SAIC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation with French National Anti-Counterfeit Committee. Under the MOU, the two sides established a working team for competition, anti-counterfeit, protection for consumers, trademark registration and management and anti-online-counterfeit to held regular conferences in turn. This workshop is just to fulfill the common goal of the two sides and it is also the first one following the MOU signed, which received high attention from both China and France.

Principals for international cooperation in SAIC and French National Institute of Industrial Property respectively made speeches at the opening ceremony. Four officials from French National Institute of Industrial Property, French Customs and French Post Office gave lectures on the registration and protection of intellectual property rights in France, the functioning of French Customs in investigations, measures on combating online infringements, and cooperation among the post department and other governmental administrative departments, and introduced the legal system and measures by France in anti-infringements. Experts from both sides also made interactions on some topics.
