Chongqing: three strides boost technology development

On June 12, Chongqing convened a hi-tech enterprise development meeting for the first time and issued new encouraging policies to support the development of hi-tech businesses. Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang, Mayor of Chongqing Municipality Huang Qifan and Vice Mayor Tong Xiaoping attended the meeting.
List 20 S&T enterprises within five years
According to Zhou Xu, Director of Chongqing Municipal Science Committee, in the next five years, Chongqing will foster about 20 emerging industry chains, cultivate more than 20 listed enterprises and build three to five hi-tech parks. And the amount of hi-tech enterprises will outnumber 2,000 and hi-tech products will exceed 5,000.
3.4 billion yuan injected into S&T enterprises
Chongqing lately established Chongqing S&T Financing Guarantee Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Angell S&T Entrepreneur Investment Co., Ltd. to assist hi-tech enterprises to solve financing issue. Meanwhile, the Governmental Guiding Fund also set up 4 sub-funds, totaling at 950 million yuan. It is informed that at the 6.12 meeting, the fund to be invested hit 3.4 billion yuan.
Plant mulberry trees in the water-level fluctuating zone
According to Huang Qifan, Chongqing determined to plant mulberry trees in the water-level fluctuating zone and develop mulberry silk industry.
