CHICAGO, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Biotech Industry and the Beijing Innovation Park signed here cooperation agreements with Bio Ohio and World Discoveries from Canada on Wednesday.

The deals were inked at an innovation luncheon and signing ceremony hosted by Beijing Pharma and Bio Center.

During the ceremony, Zhang Zegong, deputy director general at Beijing Pharma and Biothch Center (BPBC) said, "Beijing, as capital of China, not only has huge market but also has government policy support and great talents in bio industry. We can offer lots of resources and advantages."

Anthony J. Dennis, CEO of BPBC and Bio Ohio was very excited about the new partnership with Beijing. He remarked, "Ohio and Beijing have many things in common, for example very strong infrastructures. We believe there is great opportunities for us to do joint development of new medical device."

Paul Paolatto, Executive Director of World Discoveries from Canada, said, "I am very impressed with bio and medical community in Beijing. We look forward to doing more collaborations. We are very excited to bring our technology to Beijing."

Zhang Yanbo, managing director and site head from Eli Lilly Global R&D told Xinhua after the ceremony, "I am very happy to see the international cooperation we reached today. I am from Baihua Association which is an oversees Chinese organization dedicated to sharing experience and exchanging information in bio industry."

Other organizations and companies that are represented at the ceremony include Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Beijing Association of Service Sourcing, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, National Vaccine and Serum Institute and Sino Biological Inc.
The host and interpreter of the ceremony is Li Zhiliang, of Auteckbio in Beijing.

The signing ceremony was held during the largest international bio event, 2010 BIO International Convention, which runs on May 4-6. Beijing set up its own booth during the exhibition to showcase about 20 bio and pharmaceutical companies from Beijing.
