State Copyright Administration holds international seminar on protection of folk literature

The international seminar on protection of folk literature sponsored by the State Copyright Administration and China-EU Intellectual Property Rights Protection Project (Phase II) was held recently in Harbin. More than 60 experts and scholars from the State Copyright Administration, China - EU Intellectual Property Rights Protection Project, NPC and Ministry of Culture, the Legislative Affairs Office of State Council, all the Law College of Universities, newspapers and magazines and judicial departments and so on attended the seminar.

The participating experts and scholars at home and abroad made in-depth analysis and discussion on the "legislation mode on protection of folk literature and art", "protection objects and contents of rights of folk literature and art", "main body of rights and the use of management of folk literature and art" and "international development of folklore protection" and other issues.

Renowned intellectual property experts, Professor of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law Wu Handong considered that, the protection of folklore is significant; he hoped this meeting to fastest track the development of international and civil protection on literary and provide a reference for China's related system design.

The meeting was co-sponsored by Intellectual Property Research Center of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Intellectual Property Research Center of Heilongjiang University, and undertaken by Law College of Heilongjiang University.
