EU-China training on patent enforcement - developments in Europe
2010/02/20
IPR2, in co-operation with the Institute for International Intellectual Property of Peking University is hosting a training session for patent judges on 15-19 March 2010 in Beijing, officials from the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and patent professionals on recent developments in the European and German patent systems.
In view of the large number of patent cases across China, it is a priority for judges, officials and patent professionals to focus on building the efficiency of handling cases in terms of both substantive law and procedural law. Civil enforcement is an increasingly important means for right holders to protect their patents rights in China. Europe and its Member States, Germany in particular, have a long tradition and experience in patent protection and civil patent litigation.
The training will provide an opportunity to exchange experience and best case practices between European patent professionals and Chinese judges, officials, and patent professionals with regard to patent protection and enforcement.
This is part of a broader cooperation between IPR2 and universities on capacity building activities for Chinese IP judges, officials and professionals.
