It is learnt from Zhejiang Science and Technology Working Conference that, in 2009, Zhejiang Province has put 72 billion yuan's investment in the social science and technology (S&T), and over 10 billion for financial S&T investment. Patent applications and grants of the province ranked the third in the country, creating a new historical record. In last year, Zhejiang realized 900 billion yuan's production value in hi-tech industry.

2009 is the most difficult period for the economic development of Zhejiang Province since the beginning of the new century. However, every huge crisis is accompanying with a new S&T revolution, and every economic recovery depends on technical innovation. It is learnt that, Zhejiang Province has got 39 national S&T Awards in 2009.

This year, Zhejiang is going to carry out the trial work on national technical innovation project which is also the "No. 1" project for the S&T work in 2010. The construction of a trial province for national technical innovation project aims at improving enterprises' technical innovation ability, establishing a technical innovation system that takes enterprises as the main body, with market oriented and the cooperation of industry, university and research.
