It is reported from the 11th Press Conference for Patent Posture in Information Technology that, the top 3 companies in respect of patent applications were Huawei, ZTE and BYD.

The conference was hosted by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and has become one of the most important activities with brand effects in information technology industry.

According to statistics, as of September 30, 2009, patent applications in information technology revealed by State Intellectual Property Office were over 980,000 pieces, 180,000 pieces more than that in the same period last year, with a growth rate higher than 22%. Huawei ranked first again with 23,585 patent applications and ZTE followed, which applied 14,747 patents, and the third was BYD.

In addition, Guangdong topped among other provinces with 116,347 patent applications in information technology industry, the only one with over 100,000 patent applications, twice over that for Beijing (68,356).
