IPR2 is supporting a public forum to discuss the protection of Geographical Indications (GIs) and appellation of origin, together with industry and the responsible authorities for intellectual property, agriculture, quality and technology supervision in Europe and China. The conclusions will be made available to policy makers as part of progressing negotiations on mutual GI recognition.
The discussion will address the different systems of protection in Europe and China and speakers will include Mr Jerzy Bogdan Plewa, Deputy Director-General from the Directorate-General of Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, representatives of China’s Ministry of Commerce, the Chongqing Municipal Government and the local Quality and Technology Supervision Bureau as well as users of GIs.
This forms part of IPR2’s work in supporting right holders with information on European and Chinese IP systems and legistation.
Right holders and other stakeholders are invited to participate in this event. Please confirm your interest to Tamryn Barker at
