12315 is the service telephone number for consumers to complain and report used by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) with the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

On October 15, SAIC issued a Notice on Enhancing the Protection of 12315 Official Sign and requested relevant departments to intensify the protection of 12315 official sign. According to the Notice, the industry and commerce departments at all levels should use 12315 official sign in a standard way in their work places, office equipment, vehicle used for law enforcement, website and domain name, publicity materials and 12315 liaison stations. The Trademark Bureau under SAIC will turn down the trademark registration application that take 12315 official sign as trademark. For the illegal actions that use 12315 official sign without the authorization of SAIC, the industry and commerce departments should ban such action based on relevant regulations in Trademark Law. All the industry and commerce departments should cooperate with press entities to energetically publicize the work effect of 12315 in consumption and right protection in order to set up a good image of 12315 in serving people.
