The Information Office of the State Council held a press conference to introduce the "New Intellectual Property Protection and Business Environment in China Progress Report (2020)”.
Gan Lin, director of the Office of the National Leading Group for Combating Infringement and Counterfeiting, and deputy director of the State Administration for Market Supervision and Administration, introduced that the "Report" shows the main results of optimizing the business environment in 2020, which are reflected in four aspects. The first is to improve foreign investment services, play the role of a trade platform, improve the efficiency of commercial activities, and make investment and trade more convenient. The second is to further relax market access, facilitate enterprise access, facilitate product access, and streamline administration and delegate power more fully. The third is to continuously innovate regulatory methods, strictly enforce competition, strengthen property rights protection, and make law enforcement more effective. The fourth is to effectively implement assistance measures, continue to improve the efficiency of registration, registration and other reviews, increase tax and fee reduction, and provide more comprehensive government services.
Gan Lin said that China's persistence in protecting intellectual property rights and optimizing the business environment has won recognition from the international community. According to the "Global Innovation Index 2020" released by the World Intellectual Property Organization, China ranks 14th and is the only middle-income economy in the top 30. She said: "The World Bank’s "Successful Experience in Optimizing the Business Environment in China-Reform Drivers and Future Reform Opportunities" thematic report pointed out that China’s reform measures to optimize the business environment have provided reference for other economies around the world. Promote the overall improvement of the global business environment."
