2021/03/03

On March 1, the China National Intellectual Property Administration issued an announcement approving the protection of geographical indications for European Union products such as Cyprus Zivana Liquor. The first batch of products recommended by the European Commission, including Cyprus Zivana, Munich Beer, Danish Blue Cheese, Irish Whiskey, and Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, enjoy high-level protection under the China-EU Geographical Indications Agreement in China. This is a significant measure to implement the China-EU Geographical Indications Agreement. Prior to this, the European Commission had issued a communiqué on February 9, confirming that the China-EU Geographical Indications Agreement came into effect in the European Union on March 1. The first batch of 100 Chinese products was also protected by Geographical Indications across the EU.
