On September 11, Taizhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau released that, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) listed Taizhou as one of the construction cities of national IP model cities, and the construction period is two years from this September 1. During these two years, SIPO will appraise Taizhou once a year. Taizhou can be approved as national IP model city only after reaching the standards of model cities.
It is learnt that Taizhou has made headway in IP creation, use, management and protection since the year 2006 when Taizhou was approved as national IP pilot city. From 2006 to 2008, the amount of patent applications in Taizhou hit 20,945, annually rising by 28%; the granted patents were 12,817, yearly increasing by 18.55; of the granted patents, the granted invention patents were 307 pieces, accounting for 68.8% of the total number of granted invention patents in the past twenty years. Taizhou fostered one state-level IP pilot firm, 44 province-level patent model enterprises and 71 city-level patent model enterprises.
