The 2nd China (Shunde) International Industrial Design Expo, co-hosted by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and Guangdong People's Government and undertaken by the People's Government of Shunde Area in Foshan, was held on September 4 to 6. Group leader assigned by the Central Discipline Inspection Committee of CPC to the SIPO, Xiao Xingwei, was present at the opening ceremony and gave a speech.

Mr. Xiao noted that, the implementation of the state intellectual property strategy is the inevitable demand for increasing enterprises’ competitiveness and the nation's core competitiveness. The creative design industry is an emerging industry for innovation and individual creation with the whole world entered into the knowledge-based economy, and is a very important part of intellectual property issues.

Shunde Area is economically developed and abuts upon Hon Kong and Macao; it has a lot of innovative enterprises and fine innovation atmosphere. Famous enterprises with independent intellectual properties (IP) there could combine the IP resources and superiorities in industrial manufacturing with the platform of the expo.

This expo, titled "Designing & Manufacturing", is dedicated to boost the development of China's industrial design industry, expedite the combination of the creative design and industrial manufacturing, and finally realize the transformation from "made in China" to "Created in China".

Meanwhile, the 2009 International Industrial Design Development Summit, 2009 China International Industrial Design Forum & the 14th China Industrial Design Annual Meeting, and the Summit on Design & Development of Town will also be held during the expo.

Other guests present at the opening ceremony were Executive vice president of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Pan Yunhe, Deputy Secretary General of Guangdong People's Government, Jiang Haiyan, Secretary General of China Industrial Design Association, Huang Wuxiu, Secretary of CPC Foshan Municipal Committee, Lin Yuanhe, standing committee member of CPC Foshan Municipal Committee, Secretary of CPC Committee of Shunde Area, Liu Hai, and also Prof. Dr.Peter Zec from the Red Dot Award, world famous designer, Luigi Colani, and other guests and exhibitors home and abroad, with a total number of more than 600.
